PROPERTIES AND BENEFITS Obtained from the leaves of Ocimum Basilicum L., a plant of the Lamiaceae family, Basil essential oil is known for its multiple properties and has both a balancing action on the bacterial flora and the nervous system and an anti-mosquito action. • Stimulant: promotes relaxation and is indicated in cases of mental fatigue; can also be used to combat anxiety, insomnia, kinetosis, vertigo and stress. • Decongestant: when diffused, it helps open congested airways, fluidifies and helps expel phlegm, in cases of flu, colds, bronchitis and sinusitis. • Antiseptic: can be used in the treatment of febrile and flu-like conditions, infectious diseases and urinary tract disorders such as cystitis, due to its antimicrobial properties. • Analgesic: can be used as an anti-inflammatory remedy in cases of oedema in the symptomatic treatment of joint pain due to gout, arthritis and headache.
